LOCAL: A Panhandle-based Texas Highway Patrolman died in a crash while attempting to conduct a traffic stop yesterday afternoon near Childress. Trooper Sergio Romero, 27, was on US 287 when a truck-tractor semi-trailer pulled out in front of Romero’s cruiser, causing him to collide with the vehicle. Trooper Romero died on the scene and the crash remains under investigation. He joined the TxDPS as a state trooper in 2025 after serving in the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. The crash occurred at approximately 4:00 on Wednesday afternoon……The City of Hereford will begin mosquito spraying on Tuesday and Thursday evenings as needed. Spraying will take place form approximately 7:00-10:00 each Tuesday and Thursday, weather permitting…… Funeral services for Belizario “Bill” Dominguez, Jr., age 83, are Saturday at 10:00 at the St. Anthony School gym. Visitation is tomorrow from 3:00-6:00 at the gym. Bill was a longtime Hereford resident and worked as a USDA inspector for many years. He died on Tuesday in Hereford……The National Weather Service instruments at the Hereford Municipal Airport recorded 106° for a high temp yesterday at 4:00.
