LOCAL: The 18th Annual Pudge Kendrick Memorial Golf Tournament was held this past weekend at John Pitman Golf Club. J.C. Casarez and Hayden West shot a two-day, 123, to win the Championship Flight. It’s the third overall win for the pair that went 61-62 on Saturday and Sunday. They were one stroke better than second place finishers Xavier Sauceda and Aiven Martinez, and Derek Dirks and Braden West. Linda Stevens and Joe Sauceda were long drive winners, and Ernesto Monreal won the closest to the pin competition on the Par 3 3rd……Deaf Smith County Commissioners meet this morning in a regular session at 9:00 to work through a short, 7-item, agenda. They’ll work through formalities, look at utility crossings on county roads and discuss a couple of items relating to this year’s and next year’s budget. The meeting is open to the public……Melany Chavira, Ezikiel Sarmiento, Hailey Vasquez and Josh Perez-Martinez have been named drum majors for the 2026-27 Mighty Maroon Band. Kinley Jesko will lead the color guard as this year’s captain……Funeral services for George Wilhelm, age 87, are today at 10:00 at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
