LOCAL: Two Hereford ISD educators were named Teacher of the Year by Region 16 last week. Almadelfina Trejo DeLeon and Kevin Weaver were named Elementary Teacher of the Year and Secondary Teacher of the Year, respectively. DeLeon is a Pre-K teacher at Tierra Blanca Early Childhood Center and Weaver teaches 7th grade history at Hereford Junior High. They’ll be in the running for the Texas Teacher of the Year and winners are announced in October……Funeral services for Adrian “Bubba” Gutierrez, age 21, are tomorrow at 2:00 at Victory Family Church. Visitation is today from 4:00-8:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Adrian was a 2023 HHS grad and had worked at Walmart for several years. He’s remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, caring heart and wise advice. He died on Wednesday……Funeral services for Ernesto Alonzo, age 63, are Wednesday at 11:00 at Central Church of Christ. Visitation and viewing is tomorrow from 2:00-8:00 at Mendez and Mullins. Mr. Alonzo died last Wednesday in Hereford……The Hereford Beautification Advisory Board meets tomorrow in a regular session at 12:00 at the Civic Center. They’ll work through an 11-item agenda……Hereford’s Mesonet site recorded a 77 mph wind gust on Friday evening ahead of a line of storms that would produce heavy rain.
