LOCAL: Hereford Police Department held off a late rally from the Hereford Volunteer Fire Department to win, 29-26, in the Boots vs. Badges softball game on Saturday night. Nino Salomon went the distance in the circle for HPD and Oscar Peña was hot at the plate. Proceeds from Fill the Boot and Fill the Hat at the game will go to Shop with a Hero this upcoming holiday season……Hereford City Commissioners will meet in a special session this evening at 6:30 at City Hall. They’ll look at a façade improvement grant for Litho Graphics and continue discussion of the FY 2026-27 budget among the agenda items. Also among the items is a look at next year’s city tax rate and calling for a public hearing on the proposed budget The meeting is open to the public……Funeral services for George Wilhelm, age 87, are tomorrow at 10:00 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. George was a 1957 HHS grad and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. George was a mechanic, farmer and rancher. He’s remembered as a patient man, friendly and easygoing. Vigil service and rosary is today from 6:00-8:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. He died last Wednesday in Hereford……Deaf Smith County Commissioners meet in a regular session tomorrow morning at 9:00 at the Deaf Smith County Courthouse.
