LOCAL: Funeral services for Avery Detten, age 20, will be Monday at 10:00 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Amarillo. Avery was a lifelong Hereford resident and 2024 HHS graduate. Avery is remembered as the epitome of joy and fun, and had a personality people and animals were naturally drawn to. Avery was a two-time State Champion in 4-H Educational Presentation and a FFA Proficiency Award National Finalist in Agriculture Communications. She was a longtime employee at KPAN Radio and had worked as a student worker in the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Meat Specialists’ Office while enrolled at Texas A&M University. Avery was in a motor vehicle accident on Thursday of last week and succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident on Tuesday……The KPAN Krew is heartbroken for the loss of Avery and ask for continued prayers for the Detten family……The Deaf Smith County Library will open registration for their summer reading program on Monday.
