LOCAL: KPAN recorded .47 of an inch of rain at 7:00 this morning from showers and thunderstorms. Several land spouts and a tropical funnel were observed in the Hereford area yesterday morning. Mesonet totals to note included 1.16 inches at Happy, 1.1 inch at Boys Ranch, .83 of an inch at Endee, .55 at The Tree, .48 inch at Friona, .47 inch at Umbarger, .3 of an inch at Vega and .26 of an inch at Dimmitt. Shower and thunderstorm chances exist through the end of the week for the area……Hereford High School Choir received 27 Division 1, superior ratings, at the state solo and ensemble contest. The choir had 41 competitors at the state competition this week in Austin……Deaf Smith County Hospital District Board of Directors will meet in a regular session tomorrow afternoon at 5:30 at the Hereford Regional Medical Center Board Room. They’ll work through a 10-item agenda that includes a report on physician recruitment and hospital and clinical trends. An executive session is also tabbed. The meeting is open to the public……Hereford ISD will offer the summer meal program at the Hereford High School Cafeteria beginning Monday. Breakfast and lunch are available at no cost to children 18 and younger, and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old.
