LOCAL: Xcel Energy announced yesterday that they put two new solar generation units online with a 222-megawatt combined generation capacity. The Plant X Solar replaces two natural gas-fueled units at the Earth, TX, power plant. The installation features 150 megawatts of solar generation with a planned addition of a 150-megawatt surplus battery energy storage system. The addition at the Cunningham Generating Station near Hobbs, NM, features a 72-megawatt solar facility and a 36-megawatt surplus storage system……Herd Baseball routed the Rangers of Perryton yesterday, 18-2. Gavin Hill had 6 K’s in the win and batted in two on a double. Brix Machen hammered a homer for the Herd when he landed one on La Plata Dr., over the left field fence. The Whitefaces are 8-3 in district play and currently sit alone in 3rdplace. They’re on the road to Randall on Friday……Funeral services for Edgar “Ed” Hartley, age 93, are Friday at 10:00 at the First Baptist Church. Visitation and viewing is tomorrow afternoon from 4:00-6:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Ed was a longtime Hereford resident and had worked at Deaf Smith Electric Coop for 25 years. Ed cherished moments with his family, particularly his grandchildren.
