LOCAL: The proposed Hereford ISD Bond would see a new high school, relocation of softball/tennis/band field facilities, the demolition of Stanton and severe weather safe rooms added at each campus. The demolition of the current high school built in 1954, building a new high school and relocating the softball/tennis/band field facilities would have an approximate cost of $127,000,000. The Stanton demolition is tabbed at $1.9 million and the safe room additions for each campus at $13.5 million. Approximately $7.6 million would be left to cover additional costs or go to additional upgrades at district campuses. If approved the average HISD home valued at $173,716 would see an estimated tax increase of $9.83 monthly – excluding homeowners ages 65 and older and qualified disabled persons – who would see none. The bond would be on a 30 year maturity schedule……Funeral services for Edgar “Ed” Hartley, age 93, are Friday at 10:00 at the First Baptist Church. Visitation and viewing is this afternoon from 4:00-6:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home…… Funeral services for Christopher Joseph Berryman, age 41, are Saturday at 10:00 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Amarillo. C.J. was a 2003 HHS grad and served in the U.S. Air Force. Vigil service is tomorrow at 7:00 at St. Thomas. He died on Tuesday in Amarillo…… Graveside services for Pat Smart, age 93, are Saturday at 2:00 at West Park Cemetery. Viewing and visitation is tomorrow afternoon from 5:30-7:00.
