LOCAL: The New World Screwworm parasitic fly has been detected as far north as Lea County, NM, in a dog. Since last week’s first detection in a calf in south Texas, three calves, a goat and the dog have been confirmed cases with the fly. Texas Ag Commissioner Sid Miller is renewing calls to the USDA to deploy the Screwworm Adult Suppression System. Notable finishes at the state competition included Max Hedrick’s 8th place finish in the food show and 5th place in his educational presentation, Sam Detten placed 6th in ed. presentation and 13th in wool judging, and the Ag Product ID Team of Josef Grotegut, Lillian Baird and Andrew Matthews placed 8th overall……Funeral services for Lydia Montemayor Muñoz, age 89, are today at 4:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.
