LOCAL: KPAN recorded .69 inch of rain at 7:00 this morning in downtown Hereford. The 48-hour total in downtown stands at 1.18 inches with more rain chances returning Friday night and Saturday. Other TTU Mesonet 24-hour totals to note include 1.18 inches in Friona, 1.17 inches at The Tree, .95 inch of rain at Vega, .91 inch at the Hereford mesonet site, .46 inch in Umbarger, .41 at Adrian and .37 of an inch in Dimmitt……The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has confirmed the detection of a New World Screwworm in a cow in Zavala County. The affected animal is a 3-week-old calf with larvae in its umbilical area. A quarantine zone and increased surveillance have been implemented along with additional planned sterile NWS fly dispersals. Visitation is tomorrow from 5:00-7:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Connie was a longtime Hereford resident and HHS grad. She had most recently worked at HISD’s Prime Time campus.
