LOCAL: HISD has announced two head coaching appointments this week. Alyssa Lopez, a former Lady Whiteface volleyball standout and 2020 HHS graduate, was named as the new coach of the volleyball program. Matt Medley was named the new Boys Athletic Director and will take over the head coaching position in the football program. Lopez has been an assistant coach at HISD, and Medley comes to Hereford from Medina Valley ISD near San Antonio……April Smith will turn in the keys at McDonald’s today after 30 years of service to the Highway 60 location in Hereford. April began working at the location in 1996 and has been a steady presence ever since. The public is invited to the come-and-go reception at 4:00 this afternoon, at 1112 W 1st Street, where light refreshments will be served……The Whitefaces fell to the Mustangs in Game 1 of the bi-district series yesterday, 3-1. Ethan Subealdea went the distance on the bump and had 9 K’s in his performance. The Herd would leave 9 base runners stranded through the game. They’re back in action on Saturday afternoon in Littlefield……Funeral services for Edmund Schlabs, age 92, are today at 10:00 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He died Saturday in Hereford……Sergio Correa won the final pair of tickets on KPAN to see Flatland Cavalry this evening in Canyon. He joins Josie Enriquez, Tony Frausto, Hilda Roman and Jessica Acosta who all won a set of tickets this week on KPAN.
