LOCAL: On Monday afternoon, Wayne Ollis, a 77-year-old male from Bald Knob, AR, was traveling west on I-40 when his 2020 Volvo Truck left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck multiple parked semi-trailers on the north side of the interstate. Ollis would succumb to his injuries sustained in the crash at Northwest Texas Hospital. The accident occurred west of Vega at approximately 4:48……Kalub Ramirez struck out nine batters on his way to a win in the Whitefaces, 5-3, victory against Randall yesterday. Chris Flores was 3 for 3 at the plate and had an RBI single for the Herd. Gavin Hill drove in three runs with a single in the 5th inning to give the Whitefaces the lead. Hereford is 4-1 in district play……Funeral services for Dean Turney, age 63, are tomorrow morning at 10:00 at the First Baptist Church in Amarillo. Visitation is this evening from 6:00-8:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. He died on Saturday in Amarillo……Funeral services for Zachary David Martinez, age 33, are tomorrow at 2:00 at Good News Church. Zach was a 2011 HHS graduate and a standout athlete. He would play football for Southwestern Assemblies of God University and Wayland Baptist University. He made spending time with his family a top priority. Visitation is today from 5:00-8:00 at Good News Church. He died on Saturday……The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the area tomorrow ahead of near triple digit temps and breezy conditions.
