LOCAL: The Herd (5-2) will host the Wolves (6-1) of West Plains this afternoon at 1:00 in a district baseball matchup. The second half of district play begins today for the Whitefaces. KPAN will have live coverage at 12:50 from Whiteface Field……The Lady Whitefaces fell to the Lady Wolves in a rescheduled game yesterday evening, 4-0. Freshman Sonya Enriquez pitched 7 innings; striking out two batters and giving up two earned runs……Funeral service/visitation for Rita Lumpkin, age 71, are tomorrow from 11:00-4:00 at her son’s home in Amarillo, at 1203 Bowie St. Rita had a deep love for her large and growing family and is remembered as a remarkable creator. Rita was a 1973 HHS graduate and a former longtime Hereford resident. She died on Thursday, March 26th……Funeral services for Mario “Payo” Baray, age 82, are Tuesday at 2:00 at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mario was a longtime Hereford resident and spent most of his working life as a welder. He cherished family gatherings most in his life. Visitation is Monday from 2:00-8:00 at the funeral home. Mr. Baray died on Tuesday in Hereford……The Hereford Food Pantry is closed today in observance of Good Friday. They’ll be open for regular assistance hours again on Monday from 12:00-3:00……Elevated fire weather conditions will exist across much of the area today. Critical conditions are favored along the state line in far western Deaf Smith and Parmer counties.
