LOCAL: Today is the deadline to register to vote for the early May election. Election Day is set for Saturday, May 2nd. Ballots will feature city commission races, HISD Trustee races, an allocation of funds from the HEDC to improve city parks and the HISD Bond. Check registration status at votetexas.gov or in-person at the voter registrar at the courthouse……Today is also the deadline for submissions in the 2026 Congressional Art Competition. Any high school student can submit original works to Congressman Ronny Jackson’s office in Amarillo by 5:00 today……Coffee Memorial Blood Center is pleading for platelet donations. Donations can be made seven days a week at CMBC, 7500 Wallace Blvd., in Amarillo. Approximately 50% of platelet donations go towards patients undergoing cancer treatments……The Lady Whitefaces (2-7) and the West Plains Lady Wolves (7-2) face each other in district softball this afternoon.
