LOCAL: Alma Mancinas was sworn in at 8:30 this morning as the acting Justice of the Peace. Mancinas has been a longtime employee in the office and was the only candidate that registered for the elected position for the March Primary. Karen Boren retired from the position yesterday following a lengthy career with Deaf Smith County……Statewide emergency alert systems will be tested tomorrow from 10:00-12:30. A variety of alerts may be sent that are clearly labeled as a “test.” Alerts could include locally initiated tests to cell phones in the county through the WENS and IPAWS systems, landline emergency notification systems and broadcast emergency alert systems……The Hereford Economic Development Corporation meets in a regular session this afternoon at 4:30 at the Hereford Civic Center. Board members will discuss a 9-item agenda that includes incentive requests from Healthy Hereford 2030 – Dr. Lekah George, JJ’s Food Truck, and Parson’s Steakhouse.
