Deaf Smith County prices are well below the national average at $3.258, and below the statewide average of $3.678. Drivers in Brewster County in West Texas are paying among the highest in the state on average at $4.34 per gallon……A retirement reception for Justice of the Peace, Karen Boren, will be this afternoon from 1:30-3:30 in the 222nd District Courtroom at the Deaf Smith County Courthouse. Judge Boren had a lengthy career at Deaf Smith County beginning as a jailer in the sheriff’s department……Stephanie Woodard was appointed to the Precinct 2 seat on the HISD Board of Trustees yesterday. Woodard will serve through the unexpired term in 2027……Funeral services for William “Bill” Allen, age 91, are today at 12:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home……Funeral services for Rita Lumpkin, age 71, are Saturday from 11:00-4:00 at the home of her son, 1203 Bowie St., in Amarillo. Rita was a former longtime Hereford resident and 1973 HHS graduate. She worked at Hereford Texas Federal Credit Union for more than 20 years. Rita was an artist and especially loved building Lego creations with her grandchildren. She died on Thursday……The Herd (5-1) are taking on the Eagles (5-1) in Canyon this afternoon.
