LOCAL: A Dimmitt father and son, Gene and Tod Bradley, along with co-owner Ware Brown, were winners of the All American Futurity – American Quarter Horse race in Albuquerque over the weekend. King of the Tide took the top spot in the race and half of the $3 million purse……Johnny Trotter and Rick Baugh, owner and general manager of Ruidoso Downs, were honored with the 2024 American Quarter Horse Association’s John Andreini Special Recognition Award last week. The award is given to individuals who profoundly benefit the quarter horse racing industry and was given to the pair for their efforts preserving Ruidoso Downs after heavy rains battered the track……Funeral services for Minerva Irene Ruiz-Ortiz, age 64, are this morning at 10:00 at San Jose Catholic Church. She was a longtime Hereford resident who died on Saturday in Hereford…… Funeral services for Jeff Welty, age 55, will be tomorrow at 2:00 at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel. Jeff was a longtime Hereford resident and worked for his family’s custom harvesting business for many years and as a truck driver for Barrett and Crofoot Feedyard. He’s remembered as a wonderful dad and grandfather. Visitation is tomorrow prior to the service from 11:00-2:00 at the funeral home.
