LOCAL: The HISD Board of Trustees Single Member Districts 4 & 7 are both up for election this May. The filing deadline for interested candidates is today at 5:00 at the Administration Building. Candidates must reside within the specific seat boundaries. More information including the single member district map is available at herefordisd.net, under the “District – Board of Trustees” tab……Several city commission seats are also up for election in May including Place 2, Place 4, Place 5 and Place 6. Filing deadline is 5:00 today at City Hall. Call 806-363-7100 for more information……Funeral services for Carmen Hernandez, age 60, are today at 10:00 at San Jose Catholic Church. Mr. Hernandez was a longtime Hereford resident who was a mechanic for many years. Carmen enjoyed family time and especially cherished playing with his grandchildren. He died last Saturday in Amarillo……Funeral services for Mike “Strawberry” Wilson, age 76, are tomorrow at 10:00 at the Hereford VFW. Mr. Wilson was a lifelong Hereford resident and served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He worked at Deaf Smith Electric for 36 years after returning home from the war. Mr. Wilson’s greatest joy in life was his family. He died last Thursday in Amarillo……KPAN AM-FM will have live coverage of district basketball from Dumas tonight.
