LOCAL: Qalatre Garcia won the Region 1 wrestling title in the 126 lb. weight class in Lubbock over the weekend. Garcia qualified for the state championships in Houston this Friday and Saturday. Valori Porter placed 2nd in the 155 lb. class and Janielle Hill placed 4th in the 145 lb. class, both good enough to qualify for state also. The state tournament is held at The Berry Center in Cypress, a northwest suburb of Houston……Deaf Smith County Commissioners will meet in a regular session tomorrow morning for a 10-item agenda at 9:00 at the Deaf Smith County Courthouse. They’ll look to approve a grant for the Hereford Senior Citizens Association’s Meals on Wheels program, hear a quarterly jail report and look to advertise for a new pickup in Precinct 3 among the items. The meeting is open to the public……Funeral services for Cruz “Memom” Ybarra, age 78, are tomorrow morning at 11:00 at San Jose Catholic Church. Cruz was a longtime Hereford resident and worked at HISD for 33 years before her retirement. She enjoyed sewing and baking, but her greatest happiness came from her family. Viewing is today from 3:00-8:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.
