LOCAL: The Hereford Lions Club named BJ Gililland as its’ Citizen of the Year at Saturday night’s Deaf Smith County Chamber of Commerce Banquet. BJ was noted as a person of integrity, a person with compassion and someone that changed a lot of lives while pretending he didn’t. Vanessa Nava was also honored on Saturday with the DSCCC Hereford Bull – Employee of the Year Award for her outstanding service to the Hereford Senior Center. Brenda Fuentes was also inducted into the DSCCC Hall of Fame for her longtime support of chamber goals and ideals……Graveside services for Ellen “Von” Gallagher, age 91, are today at 10:00 at West Park Cemetery……Valori Porter won the District Championship in her respective weight class in wrestling on Saturday in Amarillo. She qualified for the regional meet with the win. Other podium finishers who also qualified for regionals include; Domonique Rodriguez – 2nd, Layla Ortiz – 2nd, Qaletre Garcia – 3rd, Fidel Ortiz -3rd, Lyla Zambrano – 3rd and Sophia Ceballos – 3rd; also qualifying was Jimmy Garcia in 4th……#11 Texas Tech and #14 Kansas are in Big XII action on the hardwood tonight in Lubbock.
