LOCAL: The Lady Whiteface Basketball Team took the silver medal at the Brownwood Texas Bank Holiday Classic on New Year’s Eve. Hereford played Brownwood in the championship game and fell, 56-49. They beat Lake Country Christian, 43-40; Little River Academy, 59-47; and Wichita Falls Legacy, 52-36……#4 Texas Tech was blanked by #5 Oregon in the Capital One Orange Bowl, 23-0, on New Year’s Day. Texas Tech finishes the year at 12-2……Hereford City Commissioners will meet in a regular session Monday evening at 6:30 at City Hall. They’ll work through an 8-item agenda in the meeting……Funeral services for Karen Smith, age 71, are Saturday at 10:00 at First Baptist Church. Karen was a lifelong Hereford resident and 1972 HHS graduate. She worked at First Bank Southwest of Hereford for 30 years and was the Deaf Smith County Treasurer for many years. Karen died on Monday in Dimmitt……Funeral services for Rodrigo Morales, age 54, are Saturday morning at 10:00 at Calvary Family Church……The Hereford Food Pantry is closed today and will resume regular hours on Monday, January 5th……Dallas plays in their season finale on Sunday against the New York Giants. It’s the second year the Cowboys will not play a post-season game.
