LOCAL: County commissioners met this morning at 9:00 for an 8-item agenda. Among the discussion was stipends for election administration duties and an executive session to discuss economic growth……The Lady Herd improved to 2-1 in district play with a 52-32 win over West Plains yesterday. Azlyn Zallar had 16 points for the Lady Herd……The Herd fell to West Plains in the district opener, 84-44……Coffee Memorial Blood Center is offering a pair of Fandango movie tickets, a $15 Butterball coupon and holiday themed t-shirt to blood donors during the week of Christmas. Donations can be made at CMBC at 7500 Wallace Blvd., in Amarillo……Funeral services for Phil Phipps, age 82, are Saturday at 11:00 at the Nazarene Family Church. Visitation is Friday from 5:00-7:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Phil was a 1962 Friona High School Graduate and worked in several different industries, in several different places throughout his life. He would return to the Panhandle in 2003 and settle in Hereford, founding Phipps Handy Man Service. He’s remembered for his generosity, strength, reliability, wisdom, compassion and humility.
