LOCAL: Deaf Smith County Commissioners meet this morning at 9:00 in a regular session at the courthouse. Commissioners will look to approve a shredder purchase, advertise for bids for a sheriff’s office patrol unit, and discuss surplus weapons among the ten-tabbed-items. The meeting is open to the public……The Mighty Maroon Band placed 8that the UIL Area Marching Contest on Saturday in Abilene. Canyon, West Plains, Randall, Lubbock Cooper Liberty and Pecos High School all advanced to state from the contest. The state marching contest begins next Wednesday in San Antonio……Funeral services Kelly Lonette Wagner, age 57, are today at 11:00 at the First Baptist Church of Vega. Kelly was a longtime area resident and was the water aerobics instructor at the Hereford Aquatic Center for the last 15 years. She’s remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She died on Thursday……Funeral services for Doña Julia Grajeda, age 87, are today at 11:00 at San Jose Catholic Church. She died on Friday in Hereford……A cold front pushed through the area overnight with much cooler air following.
