LOCAL: Hereford City Commissioners meet tonight in a regular session at 6:30 for a 12-item agenda at City Hall. They’ll hold public hearings regarding the proposed budget and city-tax-rate for the upcoming fiscal year that begins October 1st. The meeting is open to the public……HISD Board of Trustees meet this evening at 6:00 for an 11-item agenda. They’ll hold public hearings regarding the budget, HISD tax-rate, and Amarillo College’s Hereford Branch tax-rate for the upcoming fiscal year. The Board will also look to increase the adult meal price and discuss a new Floral Design course at HHS. The meeting is at the Administration Building……Sam Detten and Macy Betzen were both awarded the Deaf Smith County 4-H Gold Star yesterday. The Gold Star is the highest achievement at the county level. Jana and Johnny Trotter were named the 24/25 Friend of 4-H……U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins announced plans for a $750 million sterile fly production facility in South Texas on Friday. The USDA currently produces sterile flies out of Panama and the facility in South Texas would be the first north of the border. The USDA also announced an additional $100 million to develop new tech, ramp up hirings of “tick riders” for surveillance along the border and continue collaboration with Mexico to control the northward spread of the NWS fly……KPAN salutes Karen Hacker as the Good Neighbor of the Day……Now carrying the Texas Rangers Network on our TV lineup – WT Services.
