LOCAL: The 2025-2026 school year is underway today with several changes for students. Among the most notable is the ban on personal electronic devices that the state legislature passed earlier this year. Drivers are reminded to obey traffic laws regarding school zones and school buses. Some zones in Hereford do not have flashing lights but are all-day zones requiring the 20 mph speed limit. Buses with red lights activated or stop signs extended require both directions of traffic to come to a complete stop for the exception of roadways with a barriered or un-paved center median, then the oncoming lane is urged to use caution……Funeral services for Concha Mendoza, age 85, are this afternoon at 2:00 at San Jose Catholic Church. Viewing and visitation takes place prior to the service today from 10:30-1:30 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Mendoza is remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed sharing meals and teaching the recipes and techniques of her cooking to her family. Concha was a longtime Hereford resident who died on Saturday in Hereford……The Lady Whitefaces opened the regular season with a 3-set win over Palo Duro in volleyball last night.
