LOCAL: Extreme heat grips the Panhandle today and Hereford will be among the hottest locations. Actual temps are expected near the 103° mark and will approach 105° near the state line in Deaf Smith and Oldham Counties. Triple digits continue through the rest of the work week……The Hereford Economic Development Corporation meets today in a regular session for a 7-item agenda. They’ll discuss ideas and preparation to support future business development among the items. The meeting is at 4:30 at the Hereford Civic Center…… The Deaf Smith County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting for a new welcome sign on East Highway 60, Friday morning at 10:00. The new welcome sign is the first of four that will be installed around entry points to the city. The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting at Lobo Equipment Inc., 4041 US HWY 60……Funeral services for Josephine “Jody” James, age 100, are tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel.
