LOCAL: Sophia Ogunbodede, an FCCLA Advisor at Hereford High School, was awarded the National Spirit of Advising Award at the national convention in Orlando, FL, earlier this week. The award recognizes chapter advisors who demonstrate unwavering dedication and commitment to FCCLA, often working behind the scenes to ensure student success. She was the sole recipient from Texas……Hereford ISD is looking for community members to join a Political Action Committee regarding this November’s Voter Approved Tax Rate Election. The committee will support the district by understanding key info and sharing it with community members. The first meeting is this evening at 6:00 at the Administration Building. RSVP to karaesquivel@herefordisd.net…… Funeral services for Frankie San Miguel, age 59, are today at 2:00 at Grace Church in Amarillo. Frank was a longtime area resident who lived in Hereford for many years. He had worked at Amarillo ISD for 15 years before retiring. Frank was a bassist extraordinaire with a 45 year music career. His self-proclaimed greatest accomplishments were being baptized and being a loyal friend. He died on Saturday……Funeral services for Charlie Lane, age 72, are Monday at 10:30 at the First Methodist Church in Dimmitt. Charlie was a lifelong Dimmitt resident and 1971 DHS grad. He owned and operated Lane Dirt Company for more than 40 years. Viewing and visitation is Sunday from 5:00-7:00 at Colonial Funeral Home.
