LOCAL: Gov. Greg Abbott recently signed HB 1481, a statewide ban on personal electronic devices for students during the school day. The law prohibits student use of cellphones, smartwatches, and other personal electronic devices and requires districts to have an enforcement policy for the upcoming school year. Hereford ISD will implement a full-day ban on personal communication devices and will provide more information in the updated student code of conduct……Josh Flores and Freddie Barrera shot a 131 to win the Lions Club Golf Tournament last weekend at John Pitman Golf Club. They’re two-day, 62-69, was one better than 2nd place finishers Bobby Baker and Jeff O’Rand……Tell Bryant will play in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game on Saturday, June 14th, at 12:00 at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, TX. Tell gets an automatic All-State Elite Team nod with the all-star selection. Teammate and 4-year-letterman for the Hereford Whitefaces, Noah Zamora, capped off his high school career with a 3rd Team All-State selection as an infielder……Herd Golf Camp is set for Monday-Wednesday of next week. All campers will meet during the morning hours from 9:00-12:00 each day at John Pitman Golf Club. It’s open to incoming 3rd-9th graders……Slight chances for severe weather exist today with strong winds and small hail as the main threats.
