WEATHER: (June 9, 2025) MONDAY – High yesterday was 92° at 3:00; this morning’s low was 60° at 6:30. KPANcast: Mostly sunny with a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms.       

LOCAL: Severe weather battered the region over the weekend with destructive hail, damaging winds, several tornados and torrential rainfall Panhandle-wide. Storm chances continue for much of this week but a lower threat for severe weather exists. Cooler temps are in-store behind yesterday’s cold front before the 90s are reached again this weekend……Lady Herd Basketball Camp begins today at the Hereford High School Triple Gym. The camp is open to incoming 3rd-9thgraders with a morning session from 9:00-12:00 (3rd-6th) and afternoon session from 1:00-4:00 (7th-9th). Registration is 30 minutes prior to each session and is $40 for new Herd Campers or $20 for those who have attended another camp this summer……Funeral services for Manuela Peña, age 96, are tomorrow at 2:00 at San Jose Catholic Church. Manuela was a longtime Hereford resident and was a seamstress. She’s remembered as a loving family woman especially fond of her grandchildren. Viewing is today from 3:00-8:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.
