WEATHER: (June 6, 2025) FRIDAY – High yesterday was 74° at 5:00; this morning’s low was 62° at 6:30. KPANcast:Storms possible this afternoon into the evening hours.      

LOCAL: A very large wedge tornado traversed the South Plains yesterday before the storm would lose vorticity near Lubbock. It was in a supercell that produced multiple twisters and torrential rain including 3.83 inches in Anton for the best 24-hour total at Mesonet stations. The Tulia Mesonet recorded 2.51 inches, 1.6 fell in Friona and 1.54 in Dimmitt. KPAN recorded .61 of an inch this morning with storms that moved through in the overnight hours and produced small hail. Another very similar day is in-store for the region today. Be weather aware!……Gov. Greg Abbott signed HB 2 on Wednesday which pumps $8.5 billion into public education in the state. The funding will help with staff raises, campus security, early childhood education and operational expenses……The Lady Raiders beat the Lady Longhorns, 4-3, last night in Game 2 of the WCWS. The title now comes down to Game 3 between Texas Tech and UT. First pitch is set for 7:00 tonight in OKC……The 9th Annual DadFest Car Show and Parade begins a week from today, Friday, June 13th.
