LOCAL: Hereford ISD recognized the Teachers of the Year at a ceremony on Monday evening. Mary Olvera was named the Elementary Teacher of the Year and Elizabeth Cogburn was named the Secondary Teacher of the Year.

L’Allegra Study Club is selling burger lunches today beginning at 11:00, at LoneStar Home & Garden, to benefit the Khuri Foundation and the John Bunch Complex. Burger bags are a minimum $10 donation and include a burger, chips, drink and a cookie. Pre-ordered plants may be picked up at 2:00 this afternoon at LoneStar, 1302 W Park Ave., with a small number of additional plants for sale.

Funeral services for Gayla Kimball, age 79, are Saturday at 11:00 at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Kimball worked at HISD for more than three decades. Visitation is tomorrow from 5:00-7:00 at the funeral home. She died Sunday in Hereford.

The HISD Board of Trustees meet in a special session tomorrow at 12:00 at the Administration Building. They’ll work through a 9-item agenda.

KPAN is giving away two tickets tomorrow to see Randall King this Saturday night at the Azteca Music Hall in Amarillo.
