LOCAL: The High Plains Underground Water Conservation District #1 awarded more than $285,000 to 10 proposals last week relating to water research, education and demonstration projects. Ogallala Commons received $20,000 in funding for their Stewarding Our Future: Field Days, Roundtables and Festivals. The FiberMax Center for Discovery, in Lubbock, received more than $88k to complete their hands-on water education exhibit……Lady Whiteface Softball and Herd Baseball are on the road to Perryton today for district ballgames at 4:30 and 5:00 respectively. The Lady Whitefaces will finish their season at home on Thursday afternoon against Randall at 4:30……Visitation for Norma Jean Hastings, age 44, is today from 12:00-6:00 at Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Norma was a lifelong Hereford resident and is remembered as a loving family woman. She worked at the Deaf Smith County Clerk’s office for a decade before recently going to work at Northwest Elementary School. She died on Tuesday in Amarillo.
