LOCAL: The Amarillo District DPS office reported 42 vehicle accidents investigated Friday and Saturday due to the conditions caused by the wind. Four fatalities were reported and one of those was due to a missing stop sign at the intersection of FM 1062 and FM 168 on Saturday. The major pileup on I-27 had approximately 38 vehicles involved but no fatalities were reported.
Another very windy day combined with low relative humidity values and temps into the 80s will contribute to extreme wildfire conditions area-wide. Much of the Panhandle will be under the most extreme wildfire conditions according to the National Weather Service, and that includes the Hereford area. Very low visibility from blowing dust will create hazardous travel conditions especially in rural parts of the region. All fire prevention measures should be exercised today.
The Baseball/Softball Complex Advisory Board is set to meet at 6:30 this evening at the Hereford Civic Center. The Board will discuss updates on completion of the facility and the official Grand Opening among the items.
