WEATHER: (March 12, 2025) WEDNESDAY – High yesterday was 79° at 3:00; this morning’s low was 39° at 7:00. KPANcast: Sunny and breezy and slightly cooler than yesterday with a high in the lower 70s.  

LOCAL: The Lady Whitefaces were run-ruled for the third time in as many games by the West Plains Lady Wolves yesterday, 11-1. Hereford had 8 errors in the loss and a solo hit from Lexi Vallejo. They take an 0-3 record on the road to Pampa tomorrow to face a 3-0 Lady Harvester squad……The final full moon of the winter and a total lunar eclipse will work in tandem early Friday morning to the delight of watchful eyes across the country. The Worm Moon will be blood red from the total lunar eclipse and peak totality will occur between 1:30-2:30 AM Friday morning……Blowing dust could impend viewing of the eclipse later this week ahead of what’s likely to be an extremely windy day when gusts could reach the 75 mph mark in Hereford. Dust will reduce visibility creating hazardous travel conditions beginning overnight Thursday and extreme wildfire conditions are likely to exist. The track of the upper level low is still not solidified however so the predicted locations for the strongest winds can still change……Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings will be the first line of defense from Xcel Energy this week and Public Safety Power Shutoffs are also possible. The EPSS system is more-or-less an auto shutoff system that detects issues with a line like a fallen tree branch or downed line and stops the flow of power until crews can investigate.
