LOCAL: The filing window opens today for individuals interested in running for a seat on the Hereford ISD Board of Trustees for Precincts 1 and 3. Contact Naoli Ruiz at the HISD Administration Building at 806-363-7600 for more information and requirements for filing an application for a place on the ballot. The filing deadline is February 14th……The Lady Whitefaces notched a win over Dumas last night in district basketball, 43-35. Kadynce Ramirez and Keira Gutierrez both had 8-points in the win. Hereford moves to 5-3 in district play……The Whitefaces would fall in a close one to the Demons, 62-65. Several trips down the floor ended in turnovers and the Whitefaces would not have the chance at a tying shot at the end of the game. Juan Grijalva led all scorers with 17-points on the night. The Herd are 2-4 in district play……Funeral services for Steve Sanders, age 72, are Saturday at 2:00 at the Hereford Church of the Nazarene. Steve was a lifelong Hereford resident and 1970 HHS graduate. He worked for the Texas Highway Department until his retirement and was a talented musician. He died on Saturday in Hereford……The Tierra Blanca Soil and Water Conservation District is taking tree orders through early March during the annual sale. The variety of trees will all be tolerant to the High Plains climate.
