WEATHER: (November 5, 2024) ELECTION DAY – High yesterday was 58° at 4:00; this morning’s low was 35° at 7:00. KPANcast: Very nice and on the verge of breezy at times. 

LOCAL: It’s Election Day across the country today and the polls are open until 7:00 tonight in Deaf Smith County. Voters have four locations around the city to cast their ballots at including the Deaf Smith County Courthouse, the Caviness Sportsplex, the Hereford Civic Center and the Deaf Smith County Extension Office. Ballots feature local, state and national races……The Kiwanis Club holds their Pancake Supper this evening at the HHS Cafeteria. Serving is from 5:00-7:00 and all you can eat pancake and sausage plates are $10. They’re also holding a sock and underwear drive to benefit local children in need……Funeral services for Jane Packard, age 93, are today at 10:00 at the Central Church of Christ. She owned Jane’s Quilting for many years. Mrs. Packard died last Wednesday in Hereford……A visitation will be held tomorrow afternoon from 3:00-8:00, for Leon Rodriguez, age 27, at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. A rosary begins at 6:00. Leon died on Thursday, October 24th, in Childress……KPAN recorded an additional .08 inch of rain from morning and afternoon showers yesterday. That brings the November precipitation total in downtown Hereford to 3.01 inches……Hereford and Midland Greenwood are in bi-district volleyball action at 6:00 in Denver City today.
