WEATHER: (October 16, 2024) WEDNESDAY – High yesterday was 85° at 4:00; this morning’s low was 40° at 7:00. KPANcast: Mostly sunny with a high near 68°.  

LOCAL: A freeze occurred at the Lipscomb County Mesonet site overnight at an even 32°. The coldest temps in the KPAN listening area were at the Vega and Bootleg Mesonet sites this morning which got down to 36°. The Hereford Mesonet reported 39° just after 8:00 this morning. Much cooler temps are in-store today and rain chances continue to look promising this weekend……The Lady Whitefaces fell to West Plains in district volleyball last night in four sets. London Baker had 13 kills and Cambry Smith added 10 for Hereford. Madi Madrigal had 21 assists in the match for the Lady Whitefaces. Hereford is 4-6 in district play and will host Pampa at home on Saturday……Christmas Stocking Fund applications are available for pickup at the Panhandle Community Services office and the Hereford Food Pantry through November 11th. The application window begins next Monday, October 21st, and runs through the deadline on the 11th. Completed apps can be returned to the PCS office or mailed to PO Box 2089 in Hereford.
