LOCAL: The city’s new ballpark was officially named the John Bunch Complex yesterday afternoon. John was instrumental in the founding of the original facility in 1978. He was a coach for 20 years, served as past president of Hereford Kids Inc. and was on the regional board of the Babe Ruth Baseball Association. John passed away in 2019. A six-figure donation from Mayor Cathy and Kevin Bunch was given to Hereford Sports & Wellness to name the ballpark in honor of Mr. Bunch, and of course go toward facility upgrades outside of the city and HEDC funded $6.5 million. According to HS&W, the goal is to raise $1.2 million for additional amenities and just more than $493k has been raised to date……The Hereford Ministerial Alliance will host a lunch and prayer rally today at 12:00 at the Deaf Smith County Courthouse square. The event features free burgers followed by prayer and fellowship and is free to community members……Herd Tennis fell to the Canyon Eagles yesterday in district action in Canyon, 2-17. The Whitefaces drop to 2-4 on the season and will be at home on Saturday at 9:00 against Dumas……Funeral services for Pablo Lopez, age 76, are Friday afternoon at 2:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel. Viewing is tomorrow afternoon from 2:00-8:00 at the funeral home. Pablo was a longtime Hereford resident and retired from Westway Feed Products.
