WEATHER: (September 5, 2024) THURSDAY – High yesterday was 84° at 4:00; this morning’s low was 64° at 7:00. KPANcast: Clear and cloudy with a high near 84° and a 20% chance of rain.     

LOCAL: Heavy fog reduced visibility to less than ¼ mile this morning both in parts of the KPAN listening area and the Panhandle. Commuters to and from Amarillo especially saw heavy fog during morning drive-times. Rain chances exist today with a cold front making its way across the region before several days of essentially pleasant and uneventful weather……Herd Tennis is at home against Borger today in district action. The 1-2 Whitefaces will look to bounce back after their loss to West Plains. Match time is 4:00 at the HHS Tennis Courts……A family and friend visitation for Clay Jordan McNeely, age 39, is today from 5:00-7:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Clay was a 2003 HHS graduate and former member and drum major for the Mighty Maroon Band. He was an accomplished musician. Clay died on Saturday in Amarillo……Funeral services for Stephanie Jackson, age 56, are Monday morning at 11:00 at Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. A viewing is being held Monday from 12:00-8:00 at the funeral home. Stephanie was a longtime Hereford resident who died on Monday in Amarillo……Texas Junior Anglers Community Fishing Day is this Saturday from 9:00-12:00 at the Aquatic Park Pond. The event is free to children aged 16 and under……KPAN salutes Kayla Tijerina as the Good Neighbor of the Day……We have roots where others have branches – First National Bank.
