LOCAL: The next Ogallala Commons Playa Field Day is a week from tomorrow in Floyd County, focusing on regenerative cotton farming and a restored playa visit. The day begins at 9:00 on Thursday morning with registration at the Floyd County Friends Unity Center 990 FM 786 just outside of Lockney. Registration is $25 and includes a catered lunch. Two featured speakers will focus on cotton growing with a regenerative mindset. The day then features an overview of playa ecosystems from Tx Parks and Wildlife Migratory Game Bird Specialist Heather Johnson, and a trip to a restored lake. Call 806-945-2255 for more information……Funeral services for Marilyn Kahlich, age 86, are tomorrow at 11:00 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Marilyn was a longtime Hereford resident and homemaker. She also worked on the family farm. A visitation is being held this afternoon at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home beginning at 6:00. She died on Saturday……The United States Postal Service will be picking up non-perishable food items on Saturday at mail boxes across the city. The items are slated to then be taken to the Hereford Food Pantry, with all donations staying local.
