WEATHER: (March 1, 2024) FRIDAY – High yesterday was 49° at 5:00; this morning’s low was 34° at 7:00. KPANcast: Sunny and breezy with a high near 75°.   

LOCAL: KPAN recorded 4.3 inches of snow from yesterday’s storm, and that snow had a moisture content of .47 inches which is near our average tenth of moisture per inch of snow. The moisture did aid in firefighting efforts but it will be short lived with warm and windy temps in store again for the weekend……The Smokehouse Creek Fire in the northern Panhandle and now Oklahoma has burned an estimated 1,075,000 acres, making it the largest wildfire in Texas history and 2nd largest in U.S. history……HISD is holding a 2018 Bond Tour today, showcasing projects completed with funding from the taxpayer approved Bond Election. Hour-long stops will begin at Aikman this morning at 8:30, followed by Bluebonnet at 9:30, Northwest at 10:30, West Central at 1:00 and the HJH and HPA campuses at 2:00. The public is invited to attend……Funeral services for Mark Anthony Guillen, age 44, are this morning at 11:00 at San Jose Catholic Church. Anthony was a longtime Hereford resident and a longtime volunteer fire fighter for the Friona Fire Department. He died on Wednesday in Amarillo……Funeral services for Oliva Garcia De Cera, age 87, are today at 12:30 at San Jose Catholic Church……Early voting ends today at the Deaf Smith County Courthouse.
