LOCAL: Azariah Martinez made it to the State Championship Match for UIL 5A Wrestling on Saturday night in Cypress, a suburb of Houston, at the Berry Center. Azariah took home 2nd place in the 165 weight class, falling to Efren Arizmendez Jr., of Comal Smithson Valley High. Mareetza Maceda made it to Saturday’s events as well and would finish 5th in the 185 class……Herd Basketball begins post-season play today in the bi-district round against Seminole. Tipoff is set for 6:00 from Shallowater High School and KPAN AM-FM will have live coverage with pre-game at 5:45……Early voting begins today at the Deaf Smith County Courthouse in downtown Hereford and will run through next Friday, March 1st. Ballots may be cast from 8:00-5:00 during this work week, 7:00-7:00 on Saturday the 24th, 7:00-1:00 on Sunday the 25th, and again from 7:00-7:00 next Monday-Friday. Election Day will have other polling location options across the city on March 5th……The record high for this date was set in 2016 at 78° and will be approached again today. Warm and breezy to windy days are on hand through the extended forecast……The Tierra Blanca Soil and Water Conservation District is accepting orders in their Spring Plant Sale through March 1st at the USDA office at 315 W 3rd.
