LOCAL: Deaf Smith County Commissioners approved tax abatements with renewable energy provider Intersect Power in yesterday’s regular meeting. The approvals came after opinions were voiced both for and against the matter from the public, with approximately 100 people on hand for the public hearing and other agenda items regarding the project. Deaf Smith County would receive $4.6 million in additional tax revenue for 10 years upon completion of the wind, hydrogen and solar sources, and will have oversight on water use and well drilling, specifically barring the company from tapping in to the Ogallala. Coverage will continue tomorrow from the meeting……The Whitefaces capped off their 4-4A campaign with a win on Senior Night last night over Borger, 62-44. Whiteface seniors Marcos Acosta, Diego Villegas, Brandon Gonzales and Nick Torres will suit up again however in the bi-district round next week. The Herd finished district at 7-7……Panhandle Community Services has rescheduled their Energy Assistance Fair for tomorrow morning beginning at 8:30. Call PCS at 1-800-676-4727 for more info……Funeral services for Angie Rodriguez, age 33, are this morning at 11:00 at Victory Family Worship Center……Funeral services for John Robinson, age 91, are tomorrow morning at 11:00 at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel.
