WEATHER: (July 8, 2022) FRIDAY – High yesterday afternoon was 99° at 

5:00; this morning’s low was 71° at 7:00. KPANcast: Partly cloudy and

LOCAL: The 8th Annual Elks Madness is taking place at John Pitman Golf 

Club this weekend. The two-day two man scramble format will begin at 

8:00 tomorrow morning. There are still available spots for teams. Call 

the pro-shop to signup at 806-363-7139. The course will be closed for 

the weekend……The Texas Department of State Health Services has reported 

an additional fatality from COVID-19 for Deaf Smith County yesterday. 

The death toll now sits at 113 since March of 2020. The Amarillo COVID 

report card showed cases doubling last week over the previous, from 286 

to 611 new confirmed cases. The TxDSHS reported 20 fatalities statewide 

yesterday……Funeral services for Juan Rodriguez, age 69, are this morning 

at 10:00 at San Jose Catholic Church. Juan was a longtime Hereford 

resident, and worked at Arrowhead Mills and Azteca Mills for a number of 

years. He died last Thursday in Dimmitt……The Hereford Food Pantry is 

open for their regular schedule today from 12:00-3:00 at 900 North 

Lee……Thunderstorms developed in the area again yesterday afternoon. The 

windfarm south of town received .73 inches, and .80 inches was recorded
