WEATHER: (July 1, 2022) FRIDAY – High yesterday afternoon was 99° at

LOCAL: Texas DPS will increase Trooper presence on Texas roads this 

weekend with two traffic safety campaigns, Operation Holiday and 

Operation CARE, or Crash Awareness Reduction Effort. During the 2021 

campaigns around the 4th of July holiday, there were approximately 

57,000 citations and warnings issued to drivers on Texas roadways for 

violations such as speeding, seat belt violations, DWI and violations of 

the state’s Move Over, Slow Down law……First Financial Bank is holding a 

customer appreciation luncheon and retirement party for Tim Laws today. 

Customers can enjoy free lunch from 11:00-2:00 at the bank in downtown 

Hereford, and congratulate Tim on his retirement after 27 years with the 

financial institution……Funeral services for William “Bill” Craig, age 

93, are Tuesday at 10:30 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Bill 

was a lifelong area resident and longtime Hereford resident. He was an 

armed forces veteran and retired from Oglesby Equipment. He died last 

Wednesday in Dimmitt……Cattle Axe and the Hereford FFA Chapter are 

hosting a petting zoo this weekend at 3677 FM 2856 on Friday, Saturday 

and Monday. The petting zoo will run from 5:00-9:00 each afternoon with 

free admission. Feeding cups will be available for fifty cents with 100%
