WEATHER: (June 20, 2022) MONDAY – High yesterday was 95° at 4:00; this

LOCAL: Hereford City Commissioners meet today in regular session for a 

14-item agenda. The meeting begins at 6:30 at City Hall, and includes a 

report from the Hereford Economic Development Corporation, extending 

water services to multiple properties outside city limits, and 

discussion and possible resolutions for a “slum or blighted” area in the 

city that’s detrimental to the public health, safety and welfare of the 

community……Deaf Smith County Commissioners meet on Tuesday to adopt a 

resolution approved by Gov. Greg Abbott banning the sale and use of 

fireworks through July 5th. The 2-item agenda will be worked through at 

9:00 at the courthouse……The 6th Annual DadFest saw record turnout with 

160 entries in the car show. Rick Kelin’s 1969 Z28 Camaro won overall 

Best of Show honors……Funeral services for Lois Jones, age 81, are today 

at 10:00 at the Fellowship of Believers. Lois was a longtime Hereford 

resident and an avid golfer and Bridge player. She died on 

Thursday……Funeral services for Ronnie Mankin, age 77, are today at 2:00 

at First Baptist Church of Amarillo. Ronnie was a former Hereford 

resident who died on June 8th……Former Hereford Lady Whiteface standout 

volleyball player Chandler Vogel was named the Panhandle Sports Hall of 

Fame Athlete of the Year for volleyball last week. The WTAMU senior had 

a record breaking season in the fall……Boys Basketball Camp begins 

tomorrow at the Junior High Gyms. Registration is $40 and done on-site, 

3rd-6th graders meet from 9:00-12:00, then 7th-9th graders from
