WEATHER: (June 2, 2022) THURSDAY – High yesterday was 58° at 4:00; this

LOCAL: The HHS Class of 1972 celebrates their 50th Class Reunion this 

weekend. The reunion will feature a reception at the Hereford Country 

Club for all HHS alumni on Friday from 6:00-10:00. Light hors d’oeuvres 

will be served with a cash bar. Then class specific events on Saturday 

include lunch at First United Methodist Church at 12:00, and a dinner 

Saturday evening at 6:00 at The Venue at 1062……The Hermits Peak / Calf 

Canyon Fire, the nation’s largest this year, has burned 316k acres in 

northern New Mexico. As of yesterday evening it was at 54% 

containment……City Commissioners meet in special session today for a 

4-item agenda at 5:00 at City Hall……New COVID-19 cases continue an 

upward trend in Texas. According to the Texas Department of State Health 

Services, there were 3,548 new cases confirmed yesterday statewide. 

Deaths from the coronavirus remain minimal in comparison, with 2 

additional fatalities reported yesterday……Funeral services for Raymond 

Wayne Elliston, age 84, are Saturday at 3:30 at the Seventh-day 

Adventist Church. Wayne was a longtime Hereford and area resident who 

farmed and taught at Tascosa High School for a number of years. He died 

on May 20th……KPAN salutes Marta and Florencio Zamora as the Good
