WEATHER: (June 1, 2022) WEDNESDAY – High yesterday was 89° at 4:00; this

LOCAL: The Deaf Smith County Library begins the summer reading program 

today. The program is open to children age 4 through 18. Readers who 

complete the log are entered in drawings for prizes. Each Tuesday 

readers age 3 and younger are invited to Toddler Story Time, with three 

sessions at 10 AM, 11 AM and noon. The programs run through July 

16th……The Midpoint Fire in Oldham County is now 100% contained. The fire 

that began on Saturday southwest of Adrian burned 3,717 acres……City 

Commissioners meet in special session tomorrow for a 4-item agenda. 

They’ll look to approve Kurt Jones to the HEDC Executive Director 

position. They meet at 5:00 at City Hall……Xcel Energy was inducted into 

the Climate Leadership Hall of Fame last week. The new Hall of Fame 

recognizes organizations that have won multiple Climate Leadership 

Awards over the past decade. Xcel has earned two such awards for 

industry-leading carbon reduction efforts……San Jose Jamaica is set for 

Sunday at Dameron Park. Live music, food and games are all part of the 

family friendly event. Jamaica will begin at 11:00……KPAN salutes Art
