LOCAL: Texas is approaching 4 million cases of COVID-19, with an additional 44,431 cases reported yesterday. 3.9 million Texans have contracted the virus since March of 2020. An additional 60 deaths were reported yesterday, bringing the fatality count to 74,796 statewide. The state also reported 7,460 Texans were hospitalized with the coronavirus yesterday, up from 2,971 one month ago……An arctic air mass will move into the region overnight tonight, plunging temps near single digits with wind-chill readings close to -10 expected tomorrow morning. No precipitation is expected for our region…… Portions of Deaf Smith County are now classified under D3 Extreme Drought. The eastern portion of the county was re-classified last week according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. The rest of the county remains in D2 Severe Drought……The No. 25 Texas Tech Red Raiders will face the No. 11 Iowa State Cyclones in a Big XII matchup in Ames tonight.
