LOCAL: The Texas Department of State Health Services has reported 98 fatalities in Deaf Smith County since March of 2020. They are currently estimating 135 active cases for the county. Statewide, 10,880 new cases were reported yesterday along with 68 fatalities……Funeral services for Shirley Anderson, age 84, are today at 2:00 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Shirley was a longtime Hereford resident and owned and operated Anderson Studios. A visitation is being held today from 12:00-1:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home…… Funeral services for Geraldine Schlabs, age 89, are tomorrow at 10:30 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Geraldine was a lifelong Hereford resident and graduated from HHS in 1949. A viewing is this afternoon from 5:00-8:00 at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Geraldine died Saturday in Hereford……A retirement reception for Sid Shaw is this afternoon from 4:00-6:00 at the Civic Center. Sid is retiring after working as Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce for 22 years……The registration deadline for the spring youth basketball season through Hereford Sports and Wellness is next Tuesday. Registration is $50, and the league is open to children age 4 through 6th grade students.
